the younger you are the better it will be, but don't expect much for the first 10 months to year, especially with a first baby... the more help you have with the baby the better, because you'll have more energy to work out, and be able to get out, and breastfeeding if you are able also helps reduce your pregnancy fat.
Good luck!

It depends on your body. Your Dr. probably told you, or will tell you, that you won't lose it all right after birth. Most women lose anywhere from 5-10 pounds after birth and then slowly lose the rest of it as time goes on. I was told after my first birth in January, that it would be a good 3-6 months before my weight and body was back to where it was before, and sometimes it can take longer. You're not allowed to fully exercise until after your 6 weeks appointment. At 3 weeks you can take walks and kegels and leg lifts, and things like that, but you won't be able to do crunches until after your 6 weeks. I have already lost 15 pounds of my baby fat and my stomach is pretty much back to normal, but there is still some toning that needs to be done, and I'm only at 4 weeks, so it will depend on your body.

It takes 6 weeks for the uterus to return to normal size. But that does not mean your tummy will be back to it's usual flatness in 6 weeks. Your body has gained fat to protect the unborn child and in preparation for long term breastfeeding, whether you choose to breastfeed or not, and it takes time for that fat to come off. A sensible diet and regular exercise should do the trick, but give yourself 6 months or more.
Younger women tend to return to normal size quicker than older women, so your age is in your favor. But keep in mind your body had undergone an amazing change and it may not ever be exactly as it was before.

Congratulations, Mom!

since you are pretty young, then you have a high metabolism, so it will be easier for you to get your figure back than someone who was say 35 or 40. just work out, go for walks, and do some cardio and eat healthy and you will lost the extra baby weight and the tummy. also, i don't know if you are breastfeeding or plan on it, but that burns the calories right off. my mom and aunts lost a ton of their weight just by breastfeeding because you are constantly making milk for the baby and having to replenish it after the baby eats, so i guess it really does burn more calories than meets the eye.

It depends on your body type, some women it doesn't take more then a few weeks, others never lose the extra tummy. My suggestion is speaking to your doctor about an excercise program that will target the extra weight around the middle....good luck and congratulations.

Your pretty young so your stomach can go down instantly like mine did. I had my first child a 18 and the doctors could not believe my stomach went flat after a day. I mean it went down to nothing, but they said it was because my metabolism was high and that I was still young. So yours should go down pretty quickly if you have a high metabolism.

you loose most of it right after baby is born. then i would say about 2 months afterwards your tummy will look fairly normal. breast feeding helps get your body back faster too. good luck.

It took me a while (half a year) to look kind of like i did before (even though i never looked exactly like before my pregnany)
I know though other people who looked a day after giving birth like they did before and their stomach shrank so quickly...i always envied them....

I think it's different for everyone. If you breastfeed it helps your uterus go back to it's original size a lot quicker.
