Napoli: "shorties" don't necessarily have shorter legs.. it depends on the ratio of upper body length and lower body length that is usually a function of osteocyte formation in your wrist that can be detected by a simple x-ray. As has been mentioned, lower centre of gravity helps but the longer strides do provide longer distance per stride but all were talking about is speed so if one guy who is taller has a 5 foot stride but takes 2 seconds to complete it while a guy who is shorter and has a 3 foot stride but takes one second to do it, the shorter guy will be faster. Theres always exceptions but speed is usually core body strength and recruitment of motor units that are involved in power strokes.

Not me, it is totally normal, look at Bruce Lee. The longer the arms or legs, the longer it will take to make them move, that's right even if they're longer, time is of the essence.

Whoa, whoa, you forgot Ludovic Giuly at Barca and Coby Jones at LA Galaxy, how about Romario at Brazil. You can now sleep in peace.

hope Michael Owen gets back to fitness

Yes, they are faster maybe because of their size. But also they have worked hard to get to that level ! They are as good as the tall players, sometimes they are even better in terms of ability !

~edit: add Theo Walcott !!!

shorties have shorter legs, so i think in theory it would be harder, but in practice it seems theyre all super fast. i'm tall, 6 foot 4, and i dont know what my potential speed is because i have knee problems so i cant run full speed...sucks eh

Definitely they're fast! I mean, I had also noticed that but I never found a way to bring it up!

BTW, you forgot Germany's own,
Philip Lahm!

The short dude (5'7") trips over his own speed!

Cameronesi and Cannavaro are very slow!
But you forgot Ribery, Sagnol and Lahm!

You forgot Ribery.

BTW: Had you changed your name to Pinko lately?

i'm 5'9 and I can keep up with the rest of them. However tall people have those long strides and can cover alot of ground.
