Iran is putting up a front. true, they are enriching uranium, but remember that media tends to put up biassed info. Terrorism's number 1 medium is the media. Here are some facts. The US has the number 1 uranium deposit and is allied with japan, a leader in technology. The US also has NorAD, a state of the Art military defense system. The US also has several Nuclear class submarines in the water that can't be tracked easily. Don't Worry.

It was reported that Iran would have a nuclear weapon by 2015. On top of that Ahmadinejad isn't very popular in Iran right no due to a poor economy and the fear of a confrontation with the US. The US is confident that a more moderate leader will be in power who will negotiate with them. Many of the clerics want to negotiate with the the US and even Ayatollah Khameini is thinking about it.

Backed by the former chief UN weapons inspector in Iraq, Hans Blix, the Oxford Research Group said that Tehran could respond to any attack by launching a "crash program” to develop a crude nuclear device within months.

The report also warned that military action against Iran could result in a high number of civilian casualties, as a surprise attack would inevitably catch many people unprotected.

"If Iran is moving towards a nuclear weapons capacity it is doing it relatively slowly, most estimates put it at least five years away," said one of the report's authors, leading British nuclear scientist and arms expert Frank Barnaby.

"However attacking Iran -- far from setting back their progress towards a bomb -- would almost certainly lead to a fast-track program to develop a small number of nuclear devices as quickly as possible,

"It would be a bit like deciding to build a car from spare parts instead of building the entire car factory. Put simply, military attacks could speed Iran's progress to a nuclear bomb,” Barnby said in the report.

The study comes as the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) meets to discuss the nuclear programs of Iran and North Korea.

Iran denies Western claims that it is seeking to build atomic weapons, insisting that its nuclear program is entirely peaceful.

Last month, the IAEA reported that Iran ignored a deadline set by the UN Security Council to halt uranium enrichment – a process that can make fuel for power stations or, if greatly enriched, material for a nuclear bomb.

The UN deadline was set on December 23 when the Security Council banned nuclear technology transfers to Iran over its failure to suspend its nuclear program.

Western powers are now threatening to expand sanctions on the Islamic Republic. Correspondents say the new measures could include travel bans on Iranian officials involved with Tehran’s nuclear and missiles programs.

The United States, which deployed two navy aircraft carrier strike groups in the Gulf region, hasn’t ruled out using force against Iran, but says that it wants to resolve the nuclear standoff through diplomacy.

“False targets”
The Oxford Research Group suggests that air strikes, like those reportedly being considered by the U.S. and Israel, would harden Iranian attitudes and political resistance to outside pressure to stop uranium enrichment.

"Armed attacks on Iran would very likely lead to the result they were meant to avoid -- the building of nuclear weapons within a few years,” Blix wrote in the report’s foreword.
