I'm United Pentecostal and I can tell you that at our house we do not have cable/satellite because of the vulgarness that is aired. However, we do have a TV with a VCR hooked up. My children are allowed to watch movies that my husband or I have already watched and determined to be clean.
There are alot better things a child can spend his/her time doing rather than rotting in front of a TV. Children no longer have an imagination, they don't know how to play. Even parents that do allow TV need to set limits on what and how long thier children watch.

My father was not aloud to watch TV when he was younger, except strict christian movies,(We are Seventh Day Adventist) now at 40 years old he likes to sleep in front of the tv, my mom tells me she thinks he feels deprived. My husband and I decided that when our baby is born in Ocotober that they will only be aloud to watch Vegi tales and baby einstine till they are 5, then preapproved shows and movies, children are exposed to too much these days, not need to incourage it, but extreams lead to extream rebelion.

you should google united pentecostal.
I knew some people who were in it, and it is a very dangerous religion. It is a serious cult. T.V's are not evil, that is a form of control that the religion does, it prevents acess to the outside world, so that they are focused on the religion only. This sort of stuff can get more and more serious. Unfortunatly there is nothing that you can do really, you can try talking to them, but it probably wont work, depending on how wound up they are in the cult.

I don't think not being able to watch tv is going to harm your cousin but it is pretty unusual in this day and age. I always wonder what happens to kids like this when they grow up, do they spend hours watching the stuff they weren't allowed to or do they not develop the desire to watch?

sounds like a cult, religions like theirs go way too far. How in the hell is TV a sin? radical religions like this only slow the progress of humanity...
