Might not be able to with a standard USB cable. At any rate you would need a USB cable with type A on both ends. I have one of those and it doesn't work, neither my desktop nor laptop recognizes the connection.
There are special cables though can do this, they seem to have a host chip in them that crosses the signal. Pricey though..I would consider ethernet if you have the cards installed and an ethernet crossover rather than purchasing a USB crossover.

If you have a network connection on both, you can purchase a crossover cable that will connect to each computer then go to networking connection and select Add new connection. Then select Se-up Advanced Connection, then select Set up an advanced connection, then Accept incoming connections and select network.
You can also use a serial port to port connection but that is quite slow.
There is software available that will allow the transfer of files from each other like StompSoft or Laplink (PCMover).
Good Luck!

Can't u just use like a memory stick/junk drive? You can buy one for like 5 bucks at walmart and you can easily transfer stuff w/ it and change whats on it as much as u want.
