Do you still do it? Will you pass down the desire to your children as well?

My father and I were never really close. He was never close with his father. It was passed on. However, when I was pre- puberty age, we would go fishing. He told me about how fishing was when he was a kid. It was one of the few times he would open up. As I grew up, political differences separated us, as well as the generational gap. I grew up in the sixties. The distance between us was always there, but still, I remember the times when all that mattered was the lure we were using. My son and I fish and camp. I need to do more of it with him before I will regret the time and opportunities lost. They only stay children for a little while.

CAMPING! honestly, as a kid, I'd rather hang out on vacation with my parents than anyone else. They were always just so much more fun! We have camped at most of the state campgrounds in Michigan. We used to go for a week every summer. No TV, no telephones. Just my bicycle and miles of trails! Camping has always been the most comforting and relaxing time I can remember...I still crave it all winter long! My kids will love it too. Its a great way for families & friends to spend time with each other and actually interract. And its pretty cheap. Around $15 to $25 per night for the camp site. Once you have all the supplies...you are set for some great times!

My dad and I used to take a week long summer trip to Texas stopping in southern Kansas and Oklahoma to play tennis every 100 miles. We would find a park and play 1 or 2 sets in each town. I know to most people Tennis sounds a bit GAY but hell it was quality time with my dad. My oldest son is only 8 now but I plan on doing something like that with him in a couple of years.

We used to take ultra long automobile trips from Boston, to Rochester, NY. to visit my cousins there Me and my brother loved these trips. We would be playing all sorts of games and we would stop on the way having picnic stops. There was not all the traffic and highways as there are today. By the time i had my children, NO we didnot do this kind of traveling so far by auto. It was a different life style by then. bettyk

Every year we took a summer vacation. My favorite was when we drove from Indiana to California and saw the Grand Canyon, the Petrified Forest, and Disneyland. If I had kids, this is something I would pass down to them, yes.

I always like going camping with my parent's as a child. It was always nice and quiet and it gave us some really great heart to heart moments. We haven't done that in a long time but hope so soon. Hopefully, I will be able to share this experience with my children.

Driving along the Mississippi River on Sunday evenings. I don't live there, so I can't pass that specific activity along to my kids, but I have passed others on.

My father read a number of books such as Alice in Wonderland, and the Pooh books. We could cuddle up next to him and he had a wonderful voice to listen to.
It was wonderful!

My favorite things as a baby was when my daddy gave me piggy back rides and when My daddy read me stories while bathing me at night. My mom worked nights and so my dad was the one that put me to bed at night.
