my kitchen has vinyl paneling. last night i fell asleep with t he oven on, causing the place to fill with smoke and a large yellow mark on the wall behind the oven. Do i have to replace the tile, or is this something i can clean?

Try using straight ammonia & if that doesn't work, you'll probably have to replace the tile. I'm not sure if a cleaner with bleach in it will work but you can try.

Well you might because anything eles will scratch it. What you do need is oven cleaner Clean the oven so it won't happen again and if you left something on the stove then a smoke alarm or batteries. Nott making fun, just a reminder we need to check these things. Hope you are ok.

Chances are its a heat stain and will need to be replaced. The yellow is the color it turns just before it turns brown from too much heat. If you are lucky something like Formula 409 would take the stain out if it was only smoke related.
