Gripe water is a very old and well established medication for babies from about four weeks of age. After that a 5ml.spoon full is enough for them. I hasten to add that the reason gripe water was so efficient in calming babies, was because it contained alcohol!! This was removed from its` ingredients a number of years go. I can remember my grand-father giving my baby sister half a tea-spoon full of whiskey when she was teething, many years ago! It seemed to do the trick at the time.

Gripe water can be given to babies age 1 month upwards . I swear by gripe water , infacol did nothing for my baby at the time , she had colic and it is a nightmare .

officially it's from 1 month. I gave it to my baby at 1 week on the end of a dummy. but only ever from a spoon on a rare occasion after 1 month. It won't do any harm to your baby to have a taste from the dummy and it works if you are desperate.

You can't give it to babies under one month old however Infacol does the same thing and is suitable from birth, it comes on a teet pipette too so its easy to dispense to tiny mouths.
