He had his chance at home school and blew it. Make him prove himself by staying in public school and getting the work done. If that isn't an option then go for private schooling.

Well, first of all no parent should send any child to a public school unless they are desperate. Home schooling is highly recommended, or a trusted private school should be used as a second alternative. Home schooling is where the child is taught by you the parent, is that what you tried or did you have him with a "home schooling" arrangement with someone else? Home schooling is not easy. It takes a lot of time and commitment from both the parent(s) and the child(ren). The parent has to make a schedule, stick to it, and make sure the child(ren) stick to it and stay on schedule. This may be too much for some parent(s). If that is the case a trusted private school is the next best bet. They have staff who are specially trained in teaching and handling children, but they are not bound by union rules, and state, city, county and township regulations that roadblock the ability of the school or parent from teaching moral values, and well rounded coursework that may contain material that is a must have for a good decent upbringing, but are forbidden by the public systems because they do not fit into their indoctrination program. The public systems are also required to instruct in material that is harmful to many impresionable children and contributes to the further decay of todays society. Examine your situation and make your decision based on what you can handle and devote yourself to 100%.

My question is who is the parent and who is the child? If the child has already screwed up the home school once that child does not get the chance to screw it up a second time.
There wouldn't be home school just to bring up his grades at a public school. It takes a commitment not only from the student but the parent also.
Make a decision and stick to it! No one said that it would be easy but if you believe in your decision that makes it a little easier to deal with the conflict that a child will undoubtedly try to pull.

Send him to private school you are the adult he shouldn't have that option especially since he failed to do it the first time. I believe he is just finding an easy way out of doing actual work (although I do like homeschool its just not for everyone.)
