Contact the State bank of India Branch near you, they will guide you.
Only thing you need is money(Min req'd for the type of account) they will take your money and give you an account No. ask you to complete forms and if you do not have some info they will let you bring it to them in near future.
This is the case with most accounts, in most bank all over the world.
PS:
Bank pay you interest on your money depending on type of account but most of all they give that money to someone else at higher interest and they are in it to make money on your money.

In India, you will normally require the following:
1. Address proof, which can be either voter ID card or passport or driving licence.
2. An introduction from an existing bank customer, from the branch you want to open account.
Usually no other documentation is required. PAN card is not a must for opening account - if your initial cash remittance is less than INR 50,000. If it is more than 50K then PAN card will also be required.
Hope this helps.
