Assume the arch is a square with a semi circle on top.

Let sides of square be of length, L
L is then diameter of semi circle.

Area of semi circle = (π / 2). (L / 2) ² = π.L² / 8
Area of square = L²

Area of arch = L² + (1 / 8) π.L²
Area of arch = (1 + (1/8).π). L²
