Why is racism so one sided?

I think there are so many double standards regarding racism now that its getting stupid. I hate the way that white people always seem to be considered racist when black people never seem to! Say a black person punches a white person. Its a punch. A white person punches a black person and its a racist attack. I find the word honkey a funny work, but its supposedly racist against white people. Just because I dont percieve it to be a racist word why should that mean black people get to say it constantly with nothing said! I think there is way too much prejudice on race but I think the whole race card has gone on way too long. We cant just be a community where everyone are equal eh.

Okay i am going to break down the purpose of racism. Racism is not a sociological or cultural epidemic but economic, that began from slavery. During that time and even still today blacks only have one half of one percent of the nations wealth. The construction of the constitutuion was based on the premise that free whites were individuals, thus having the rights to wealth, whereas the african americans and slaves were considred a group and must stay grouped. An enslavement law in 1866 was entitled the doctrine of exclusion, which stated that blacks, because they are a grouped ppl can never be compensated for slavery. In other words, race is a competition. It is a competion that african americans cannot one because one: they do not have the necessary funds to promote their causes like whites, two: many are still oppressed and three: the nation is not going to enact any laws that will rid of closet racism. So from this perspective,though it may tick alot of ppl off, blacks really have no way to be racist. Blacks that used the word honkey dont even know what the meaning of the word is, it refers to the days that whites would go into black neighborhoods and honk their horns so as to cause a disruption. hence, honkey. If a black person calls you a cracker, it refers to the days when the masters would crack the whips on the backs of slaves. Now call a black person the n word and be a white person is racist in the fact that there is so much negative history attached to it. you said it yr self that you are not offended with being called a honkey...the fact of the matter is that the punch can be misconstued as a racist atack because everything seems to bee revolved around race in this shallow country. We need to deconstruct the competive posture that we have between blacks and whites before we can be equal.

I agree with you completely racism is over used, for example in the UK a few months ago a gang of Asian men beat up a white kid with a hammer for no reason, the Police would not say it was racially motivated, but one white person punched an Asian man and it was a racist savage and brutal attack, it is ridiculous, racism is racism no matter what colour

Going by the definition, for the most part you have to be in a position of authority or power to truly practice racism.

What most people i think mean when they say racist, its bigot

I read the newspaper daily, I have yet to see a white person striking a black person labeled a racist attack unless it actually was one. Now I do know that according to various sources blacks and Hispanics are more likely to get harsher sentences for the exact same crime as committed by white people.

It would be nice if people everywhere treated each other with equality and civility, I'd love the hell out of it. There is way too much prejudice in the world on a host of topics, not just race.

I would love it if for a month, everyone were to switch race, just wake up one morning and find that they were suddenly different. I think thats the only way most folks will come to understand what it means to have race used against them.

I agree... unfortunately because i do i will probably be branded by some as racist, personally i don't really care. Lets take your reasoning to another level, why not have a white history month... ( its not all that great) but it is a history... and a White Entertainment Network...similar to BET but only white people... lets start National Association for the Advancement of White People... This race thing is getting out of hand....we are people..and yes there are great blacks as well as great whites...all in all there are great people who dedicate their lives to the betterment of society and race has nothing to do with it.. so lets get past this ridiculous notion that the color of your skin makes you this or that type of person....we are people living on earth and we are all perfect in every way..

I think you must live in a bubble for when a whiteperson strikes a black just like when a balck strikes a white its called violent assault. And your missing a few other points 1) blacks were brought to this country (by the way the land you are on was stolen and the ORIGINAL people murdered to make room for your WHITE forfathers) not of thier own accord as SLAVES.
2) white have taken advantage of others in the MOST SAVAGE ways allways using the bible as thier moral weapon.3)As long as whites think that they have some kind of special rights (maifested destiny(made up)) and live with the laws they created a quit whinning everytime somebody points out thier sick behavior then maybe just maybe we can all get along.
4) The most important is quit blaming the victims of this most racist country and take some respocibilty for the actions of your forfathers in a real and meaningfull way.

Well it is really easy because white people are constantly downing the black population and are always categorizeng blacks in a negative way. it is horrible but so very true.
blacks do not see anything wrong with calling a white person something negative because it really does not matter. only the black person is thought to be a nobody.
society looks down on blacks and looks up to whites. DOES ANYONE REALIZE THAT IF IT WERE NOT FOR THE WHITES THERE WOULD BE NO BLACKS AGAINST WHITES.

You are quite right about your observation. It is a case of the doule standard. But the thing is, you can't change most people's racist attitudes. It is the prideful tendency of the human heart, in one way or another. The tendency says I am better than they are. This is arrogance. What breaks the curse of racism is to love people. In love, there is no room for my pride.
