Army hospitals for YEARS have been notorious for their less than ideal conditions. This is not new news. If you check all of the Army hospitals and clinics as well as some VA facilities you would find the same conditions or worse.

To assume that it was ONLY a Republican issue shows how uninformed you are. With the war in Iraq spending for military healthcare is likely at nearly an all time high. What used to kill our soldiers is merely a wound now a day. If you lost a leg or an arm in Vietnam you likely would not have survived, today you can lose both and they will treat you and rehab you.

It's the bleeding heart liberals that make comments like these to try to slander the Republicans. You would rather pay for abortion clinics and welfare than to treat our own troups with the dignity they fight to deserve.

Yes, once again dishonorable Republican scumbags failing the troops while giving lip service to patriotism.

To the dopes who babbled above about Clinton, News Bulletin, we didn't have thousands and thousands of military wounded during the Clinton Administration.

When Bush, Rummy, the Republican Congress and co. decided to get us involved in Iraq, they should have anticipated mass casualties and made sure that the hospital infrastructure was geared up and prepared for that eventuality. But, I forgot, this bunch couldn't successfully plan a 4-H club picnic.

Now you know that to the Repugnicans that was not neglect.
I see your respondent Dallas is ignorant. Ignorance breeds stupidity.
The budget had been in the control of the Republican led
Congress for 12 years. They did not even pass a 2007 budget to run the government. That is now left to the Democratically led Congress and the Republicans are already trying to throw up roadblock because the Dems wanted to increase the VA budget..
The Pubs cut money all the time and when the Dems protested they were called obstructionists.
Salon.com had been talking about this since 2005 in numerous articles on wards in Walter Reed Hospital such as Ward 54.
There were hearings led by Republicans in 2005. Complaints were filed by soldiers about the conditions there. Nothing was done. Dems had no power, When they wanted to hold hearings people like Pat Roberts of Kansas refused and told them to shut up or be viewed as unpatriotic. They were refused conference rooms to hold hearings.
These were some of the same things that John Murtha started speaking out about over 18 months ago and he was called all sorts of names by the Bush bunch.
Republican led Congress being the hypocrites that they were had voted in the 2004 budget to cut funding for veteran's health care and benefit programs by nearly $25 billion over the next ten years. It narrowly passed in a vote along party lines by 215 to 212, and came just a day after Congress passed a resolution to "Support Our Troops." How exactly did this vote support our troops? Did leaving our current and future veterans without access to health care and compensation qualify as supporting them? I guess so.
Then it even gets better. President Smart One in an effort to justify his tax cuts to his rich friends had already partially planned his 2009 budget, which would go in front of the Congress next year, to cut funding to the VA to balance the budget. Huh!?! He committed our In his war of choice, Iraq, sends them with no body armor, yet he supports the troops. He cuts money from the VA budget to take care of our wounded, but he supports the troops. It looks to me the troops he is referring to are the private troops from Blackwater who have the necessary body armor and are paid anything from 3-10 times what our boys in uniform get. It is a stinking crime.
Now that this has hit the fan, let us see how cooperative the Pubs will be this time around

Yes it is a crime that the media had to bring this issue to their attention, all except Fox News. Fox ignored the story for 2 weeks after it broke on other networks. I guess the Anna Nicole Smith story was too important for Fox to show any real news during that time.

Congress is responsible. Both Democrats and Republicans

Nope, and this is an apolitical issue. Congress is responsible for the funding, and I do believe that there are both parties there, right?

The situation is sad, no matter who is involved.

and its a crime that they outsourced Troop medical care to Halliburtion at Reed.

Its a crime that cons now make up excuses for it.

Its a crime that FOX reported more on Anna Nicole last Fri than Walter Reed.

I think you need to look at the Clinton years to see how the military got chopped to pieces and sold off.
You need to talk to some real Vets. before you make a statement like that.
