i'M A CUB fan so it's prolly biased but I don't see why they can't win the division. Check out the last years winners.
Cardinals- Even Cardinals fans can't like that mess that they call a rotation. Carpenter's a workhorse but beyond that they got nuttin. Adam Wainwrights got some nasty stuff, but the dudes never started a big league game, and has only 77 iinnings of BIG league experience. I'm not sayin he's not gonna have his moments, but stepping in as the new #2 on a World Series team? How can u expect him to go 200 innings? Kip Wells has a record over the last two years of 10-23 and his ERA has inflated. Anthony Reyes??? He's alright but again he's a question mark, cuz he's yet to pull the load as a day to day starter. Braden Looper??? hahaha, ya rite, he's got nothin and hasn't started a game even in his A, AA, AAA, or MLB career. He started some in rookie ball, but he can't seariously be considered. Offensivly they're good, but not great. Duncan and Pujols should put up some awesome numbers but Rolen and Edmonds are just a year older.
Ya the Cubs can win the division. Out of all the signings this offseason, the biggest mite have been Sweet Lou. He provides something that has long been lacking. A fiery sense of compassion for the game. I gotta believe he's the best manager the Cubs have seen since Leo Durocher back in the late 60's. He'll make the Cubs want to play and win. We'll see, they're definitly better.

The Cubs won't be able to go by the Cardinals in the NL Central. The Reds and Astros could finish ahead of the Cubs also. I think many of the Cubs players have made losing a habit.

Lineup: Losing Derrek Lee for much of 2006 sunk the Cubs, but the offense is set to bounce back with a vengeance. The signings of Alfonso Soriano and Mark DeRosa, as well as the re-signing of Aramis Ramirez, create a more balanced attack, which should help emerging power hitter Matt Murton. New manager Lou Piniella has a lot to work with.
Rotation: The Cubs are hopeful that veterans Ted Lilly and Jason Marquis will help the club avoid a repeat of 2006, when it used 15 different starters. Chicago isn't sure what to expect from injury-prone Mark Prior. Wade Miller provides a veteran arm, but shoulder problems have sapped his once dominant stuff.
Bullpen: Scott Eyre and Bob Howry delivered as expected last season, but they were used too often because the starters didn't work deep enough into games. Ryan Dempster, the closer, didn't help matters by losing his touch. If Dempster can't regain it, expect Howry to replace him. Neal Cotts, Will Ohman, Michael Wuertz and Roberto Novoa-all quality arms-round out the bullpen.

Thats very possible especially since the Cubs got Sweet Lou Pinella as there coach. There is one thing the Cubs will lead the league in and that is swear words. The cubs have improved drasticly there team. Money isn't everything. Look what has happened to the yankees.

Not a chance in heaven or hell. It'll take divine intervention for the Cubs to beat the Caridnals.
Cubs suck.
Cardinals rule.
Deal with it.

They definitely have the potential, but it all depends on their pitching, particulary if Prior and Wood can stay healthy. The Cardinals seem to be a shoe-in every year, so I expect them to be in the running for the wild card.

No, at least not this year. They need more good players. Cardinals will be tough to beat, so I say they will go a little under 500, which aint enough
