Do you know what type of sound card you have? I believe you might have a driver problem and you need to reinstall the drivers for your sound card if so you can go to driverguide.com or type in the sound card and number in yahoo search and reload the drivers from there. Are you familarize with the device manager? if so check it out and see if the sound card is working properly it will usually say working, not working or drivers not installed. If you do not know how to get to device manager, right click my computer and hit manage and then hit device manager

check to make sure the sound device was found.

[start] -> "Control Panel" -> System
{Hardware Tab} -> [Device Manager]

Look under sound and see if there is anything there. Else find the drivers for your sound card.
