Oh... these are fun! Here are some that I have heard and whether or not they were true for me!

" It is better not to cut hair during pregnancy". There is not logical explanation for this belief, but some women quite seriously declare that it could seriously affect the baby and by cutting the hair it could cut the lifespan of the unborn child. --I've gotten my hair cut 4 times!

Pull down the skin under your left eye and look at your eyeball (the white part). If you see a vein that looks like a V or branches, you will be having a girl.

If the expectant mother is eating and coughs, ask her to pick a number, then match the number to the corresponding alphabet letter, eg: A=1, B=2, C=3 etc, then ask her to pick a name starting with that letter. If the name she picks is a girls name, it will be a girl, boys name, boy. I should have a girl . . .

use of glue during pregnancy will lead to a difficult birth--I haven't used glue, so I wouldn't know, but just for the record..my pregnancy has been easy so far. I am 28 weeks

- if you strike an animal during pregnancy your child will look and behave like that animal;I don't hit animals!!

- praise of a newborn baby will attract the attention of evil spirits;oops...lol

- a baby with wide, thick ears will grow up to be prosperous (lending new meaning to that parental exclamation, "I'll give you a thick ear!".

My kids are now 14, 17 and 20 . . . When I was pregnant I heard things such as . . .
Don't eat strawberries...it will leave a red mark on the skin of your baby.
Don't extend your arms above your head during your pregnancy...it will affect the umbilical cord and cause harm to the baby (cord to wrap around the babies neck?)

These superstitions came from an elder Aunt.

If you lift your arms above your head you will miscarry (some lazy one must have invented that).
When there's an eclipse you must wear two safety pins crossed in your panties, or your child will be born with a big mark on its face (eclipsed).
If you don't satisfy your cravings the baby will be born with a craving-shaped mole.
So many more I can't remember right now.

the most ridiculous one: if you lift your arms over your head the baby will get the unbilocal cord wrapped around its head, it may be true, i dont know, BUT 1 in 3 babies are born with the cord around there head, and are perfectly heathy!
lol, but ive gotten soooo many, that i just tend to ignoore them now
