You might want to call a few vet offices and do a quick survey. They are much better equipped to answer this question since the vet is the one that hires you.

In my opinion they are not worthwhile. They do not offer any good experience. Vet-Tech schools on-line are not a good idea either. They offer mostly diplomas and Vet offices and kennels and things like that do not look at diplomas and equally as they degrees. My opinion it is all a waste of money. If you want to go into the profession then go to school.

They are very profitable to the schools selling the courses but are not worth a darn to a student. Get a job at a vet as an assistant trainee. That's the way to learn.

First of all, you need to check the reputation of the school you are attending and who recognizes their degrees. Find out how many of their grads are actually employed in the field they trained for. FInd some of them and ask them.
Ask veterinarians in your area if they would hire someone who graduated from this type of school. Make sure they have a requirement for you to do an onsite internship to actually get hands-on training under the direction of a licensed veterinarian.
There are probably some very good schools out there and probably some very bad ones.
My advice, do your homework before making a commitment.

most vets like to train their own vet techs to their way of doing things. i have been a vet tech (unlicensed ) for 4 years. all vets have different ways of doing things as i have worked for two. and those schools online are very expensive!!!!! just try to get a job a vets office, you may have to start as kennel help to get your foot in the door, but that's a start. good luck

Not really, online schools can't give you experience hands on all they can do is tell you how to do a procedure. It is better to go to an actually school in person and get hands on training.

No it isn't worthwhile, you don't have the on the job training you get in school and you won't pass the state board that is required in all states, so don't waste your money.
