I learning html.

What else do I need to know, or need to make a nice looking website.
Do have to have dreamweaver to make awesome sites? It needs to look professional, not a personal site.

Learning CSS is a must for a website that is visually pleasing. Also try to cut down on tables and increase use of Class and ID tags.

Also the span tag is your friend in conjunction to CSS to add styles to your work. DreamWeaver is not needed, but if you are an amateur it is advised, a WYSIWYG view can help greatly.

Dreamwearver is really great but it is about $400.00. If you really want to be slick and go with Dreamweaver, then you might as well get the whole suite which really works well together. But you are looking at over $800.00. If you can afford it, great. You can also use their 30 day trials. Thats what i did when i was learning. Microsoft also has a newer program called Web Expression. This is very similar to Dreamweaver. They also have a trial period, which I believe is 60 days. It is also about half the price of DreamWeaver.
I have yet to buy web design software since I just do it as a hobby.

The latest program that I have been experimenting with is Visual Web Developer by Microsoft, which can be found at asp.net.

Starting out, I guess I would recommend one of the trials versions from about and then find a site that you like, and then try to copy it. Also did you know that also most any website lists its source/code. All you have to do is right click on their site and click "view source".

Hope this bit helped.

You do not *need* dreamweaver, if you are learning html. Also consider learning css. You'll get entirely slick, if you want to take the time to learn it moderately well! Some of *THE MOST AWESOME* sites are made just with a dense little bit of well-formed html and css and a few well-placed graphics.
