The silver one, the gold one doesn't look as classy. I think an 18 year old would prefer the silver. If she was 80 then I'd go for the gold.

The silver is much more elegant for a women. It also goes better with the gems.
The gold looks a little tacky.

Personally, I like the silver. . .However, I would take a look at the jewelery the 18 year old has. . .does she (I'm assuming she is a she) have more silver jewelery than gold? If so, I would go with the silver. . .Good luck!

I would check out what colour jewellery she normally wears. If its silver go with that if its gold go with the gold one.
If she wears both or you cant check this then definatly go with the silver one. Its really cute. I like it. You can buy me it as a gift if you like hehehe :) Just kidding. It will go down well with her :)

Your best bet is to check out what kind of jewelry she wears currently. Most women favor one over the other, although silver tends to be preferred choice in recent years.

Silver, always, or white gold.
Yellow gold can look cheap and tacky sometimes, even when it's incredibly expensive! Silver will go with most things clothes and accessory wise, most skin tones and most colour clothes or jewelry, and never looks nasty.
Just my opinion :)
