I would buy the Huggies/Pampers for newborns but then once my baby moved up in sizes, I would only buy the Wal-Mart brand, which is now known as "Parent's Choice." They are $10.56 (in the Dallas/Fort Worth/Tyler, TX area) for the jumbo pack. The smaller sizes carry more diapers in them so you are generally only spending about $0.13 a diaper. I found these to be just as good if not better than the name brands, including Luvs. They do not leak, plus, you are not paying to have characters on the diaper. First of all, what does a 3 month old know about Pooh or Elmo anyway. Parent's Choice has shapes and are velcro. Velcro is the best! I'm telling you, I have not been disappointed in their performance at all. I am on a tight budget and a working mom. These are easy and won't break the bank! My older sister has 5 kids and she used the generic brand w/ all of them. No Problems! (Occasionally you will get a diaper where the tab is ripped, but at $0.13 a diaper, who's crying!) Congrats on baby and good luck!

I bouht pampers swaddlers(my fav)and my daughter who ate a bunch and peed and pooed even more went through two of the BIG packs a week. I changed her diaper alll dayyy longgg. It never stopped because she would get a rash if I left her in it for any amount of time!!! Now I buy one Big pack a week. Finally she is two months old and two weeks and we have cut down on the eating all of the time and I am so happy.
Big pack of pampers 20.00 so I spent 320.00 first two months.
By the way with my second baby I did cloth diapers because of cost reasons--I just bought the old fashioned kind(gerber) and bought pins and plastic panties to go over them and they were easy and I only paid about 35.00 for everything. But I was home all day with her so I had the time to wash them. Now I do not have the time with three kids.
Good Luck with your little baby!!!

every baby is different, but I spent about 250.00 on diapers in the first 6 months at two 80 count packs per month.

Close to 300.00 But dont buy too far in advance. The sizes can change fast. My daughter could never wear new born, she was 10 lbs 9 oz at birth.

That depends.
You can get cloth and spend around $100 total.
With sposies you will have to wait and see what brand works for your child.
