If you see or meet an African-American woman that has long hair, do you automatically assume it is a weave? Or can you tell the difference?

I have a lot of African-American females that don't personally know me, ask if my hair is real of if it's a weave. When I tell them that it is real they get jealous because they have weaves and start making negative comments. Like: "If my hair was that long I would still wear a wig or weave, because I don't feel like doing my hair all the time". Or they will say doesn't it bother you in the summertime when it gets real hot. Yet they are the main one wearing wigs and weaves in the summer and all year round.

They can't tell. I contstantly have to show split ends and let stangers feel my head up to prove that YES we too can have long hair (the trick is don't use chemicals until the age of 16 or so).

AND if the weave is good, you shouldn't be able to tell.

I make no such assumptions until I can run my hands through it. Unless the weave is real human hair there is a slight difference in feel.

I love my weave! Lol. Everyone always assumes it's my hair because it goes so well with my features. That, and I have an amazing hair dresser!

That would depend on her other body features. I have met women with their natural long hair and others that have weaves.

i asked my uncle, and he said he can usually tell the difference between a weave and real hair.

I'm half black from the waist down.

I never assume its a weave. Sometimes it really looks real. I prefer the natural curly black hair on girls though.

Men and women ask me frequently "is that all your hair?" now my hair is not that long (shoulder length right now) but it is really thick, I believe that more women than men can tell the difference though

I could care less if it's weave or not, but I don't assume that

I usually don't assume that, but it's hard for me to tell anyway
