Why Are Gays so Supportive of Democrats?

Question

Bill Clinton signed both the 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' law and the "Defense of Marriage Act". More gays have been kicked out of the military during Clinton's 8 years in office than the 12 years of Regan/Bush combined. The DOMA insured that no state had to recognize any gay marriage.

There is no state that allows gays to marry even though in several states there is nothing republicans or their minions can do to stop them. Massachusetts is in the process of overturning the courts decision even though the state legislator can pass a veto proof bill to make their current law permanent.

It appears that liberals only say what you want to hear only to get you to vote for them then stab you in the back once they're in power. Et Tu?

So why do gays give so much support to the democrat party? What have they done for you?

Well seeing that I am not American, I can only offer an outsiders take on the situation. You are correct, politicians (of any party) will suck up to voters and tell them anything to get elected. Just look at the Republicans and Karl Rove and what was said.

Bottom line is, although Democrats may not be the best friends of gays, they still are somewhat tolerant. Contrast that with the known hatred coming from Republicans (see Ann Coulters recent comments) and you have your answer.

It is amazing ! It takes an outsider to know what is going on inside. By that, I mean J D (not an american) sees that both Democrats and Republicans lie just to get into office. Then they do what they want.

Although he points out Karl Rove, and Ann Coulter, I am sure he knows that his list is by no means in total.

I can only think of 2 republicans, and 1 democrat, that I think I could trust. That being said, one of the republicans I trust will definintely not run.

They are politicians - if their lips are moving - they are lying.

I wish more Americans would realize this.

Obviously, not all Democrats support gay marriage and not all Republicans are against it. However, the majority of the time, that is the case. The Democratic party tends to be more liberal, and usually supports such issues as homosexuality, whereas the Republican party are more conservative, and would be opposed to it.

Because if some republicans had their way, gays would still be thrown in prison.

Even the more moderate Republicans want to allow discrimination against gays. At least some Democrats put forward laws like ENDA.

Why are we so supportive of democrats? Easy question -- because too many republicans think like Ann Coulter! Although the Democrats don't always support gays, they support them INFINITELY more than the republicans!

I guess it because recognize that this is country of diversity and they believe accepting and supporting the rights of all CITIZENS gay or straight.

The Republican Party boast it is the party of the "big tent" they accept all in the Party. Yet to be in the "big tent" you must be pro life, pro gun, anti gay, etc. the "big tent" become one ring circus.

The democrats have done more us than republicans ever have, even with DADT.

As for MA overturning the statute permitting same sex marriage, it's not yet a done deal.

They have not campaigned to have us "cured" or exterminated, as some Republicans have. Then of course, you have the spokespeople like Ann Coulter . . .

Bill Clinton is the only US president who accepted homosexuals, and basically say, it's ok to be gay.
