You can incourage as others have said, but not all babies do crawl. My son never did. He scooted sitting up with one leg indian style and one leg out straight. Then he walked.

You really can't make your baby crawl, but you can encourage the baby to crawl. Try holding out a cookie or their favorite toy and move away a little bit as they reach for it. Every baby has their own way and they crawl when they are ready. Good luck!

my baby was a late crawler, but I would put her in crawling positions and try to tempt her to reach for things she liked. Not sure if this sped things along, but I did it as an attempt to teach her the "crawling" stance.

The best ways to encourage is to place interesting things just out of reach. They will do it when they're ready. There is no way to make a kid do anything when it comes to developmental traits.

Unfortunately you have to wait for your baby to be ready but with my first child I would try and get his legs under him and then put his "buddy" just out of reach. It would make him mad that he couldn't get it but it gave him the motivation to try and get it.
