We see celebrities speaking their minds about certain race or homosexuals in which they don't like and they get fired or forced to apologize but yet we have these hate groups, KKK, skin heads and others running around free in this country? Why can't we make it illegal for organized hate groups?

You wanna try firing a KKK member? I would in a heart beat but most businesses have to stay away from the racist scene. I have fired people for speaking their mind when it comes to racism. I had this one guy who was an Irish Catholic. He didn't have a problem with blacks but he hated Jews. He was history in a heart beat. The reason the political people can speak their mind is no one wants to piss them off. I would in a heart beat!

One big difference...when a celebrity or other private person is fired or otherwise punished for their views it is by another private person or employer.

We cannot allow the government to prohibit hate groups. As an African American male I would not appreciate the views of hate groups in the US but nonetheless who is to decide what speech should be prohibited.

If we start banning the KK, Aryan Nation and other hate groups we open the door to banning other speech. Who is to decide what is hate speech? Should we jail people for saying hateful things about Brittany Spears or OJ Simpson? Ban "hate" speech and you take the first step towards eliminating the freedom of speech.

For an idea of this look into China, Saudia Arabia, and other countries that do not have the freedoms we have.

The "punishment" for people who say stuff isn't imposed by the government. They go to "treatment" or "rehab" or whatever for calling blacks or homosexuals names, because otherwise they would not get future employment. They have to atone for their sins against Hollywood's tender sensibilities.

They are, however, fully guaranteed the Constitutional right to say anything they feel like saying. But they might suffer consequences of saying it from other people, and from their place of work.

As for the KKK, that also falls under the free speech amendment, however odious their beliefs are. For there to be REAL free speech, all speech, even the hate-filled rabble-rousing speech of the KKK, MUST be allowed. Government should NEVER have the power to restrict speech. That is the path to tyranny.

It's hard to identify hate groups. It also is their right to assemble and speak. Celebrities get in trouble not legally, but by their sponsors, etc. no longer footing the bill. Tim Hardaway will not be a spokesman for the NBA because they don't want to assosciate with an admitted "homophobe." That is their right as a commercial entity. They do not have to hire a skinhead, either.

i think of that in the time of the previous absolutely everyone can confirm if a communities particular stand or place has any income, you are able to still desire to overview their history. past in the direction of the top of the Civil conflict, lots of the Southern Leaders have been in a number of the european countries soliciting help for his or her side of the conflict, with the promise of a settlement for decrease priced cotton, which replaced right into a rather renowned commodity for Europe's arising business revolution. between the countries that replaced into visited replaced into Spain, which, holds a each and every year demonstration and parade, celebrating the victory of routing and removing the Muslims from Spain. its simple.

celebrities and politicians and pundits want something from you.

hate mongers like ann coulter want you to buy her book and she wants to be able to be presented as some kind of respected expert.

if we all see her for what she is and hold her accountable for the outrageous things she says, she will either have to apologize for her statements or risk being viewed by even conservatives like the kkk.

i actually find it pretty hard to believe that very many relate to anything she says anymore - even among conservatives - she is simply not respectable.

groups like the kkk don't care what we think of them and don't care if we like them or think they are respectable. they don't try to sell you books or try to appear as respected experts on anything that anyone cares about.

but ann coulter does care and she doesn't want to be held accountable for using the most base language and make horrid lies about respected people.

but in the end, if ann's booking agents decide that hate sells well and they no longer care what anyone says, then she along with the kkk will also simply not care what anyone says.

the ap recently decided to 'ban' news stories about paris hilton - i think it would be equally appropriate if they also banned stories about ann coulter.

in the end, she is also a no-talent bimbo...

A couple of reasons. It is better to listen to these people and let them discredit themselves. If we proscribed them, then they would just grow angry and be secretive. Let them get out in the open and make fools of themselves.

Also, it is a big 1st amendment issue. Although the groups themselves aren't likely yo be classified as illegal, absent terrorists activities, certain forms of speech are illegal.

If we got rid of the KKK then we'd have to get rid of all the "X" guys too, then the PITA people, then the politicians and lawyers, then everyone else....So who'd be left to answer your questions?

Hitler pointed fingers and got rid of people he deemed "unfit" for his idea of society too. Personally I like all these different groups who say their agenda is how it should be. Makes for good afternoon TV.
