Love them or hate them, Clinton and Bush stand as the ony "Boomer" Presidents of America to date. At worse, boomers have been called self indulgent, self concious, and blinded by selfish ambition to a fault. The WWII generation gave us JFK, Ford, and President Bush, the father, that is. Are we at a socially prescribed standstill waiting for a great man to enter? Can true selfless duty to a higher goal still be experienced in a President? What say you?

I think this might be a watershed moment in our history. We are truly in danger of becoming,at best, irrelevant in the modern world.

What's needed is a person with the capabilities of Franklin Roosevelt, the vision of Abraham Lincoln and the courage of
any of the Founding Fathers, who has no other motivation than the
well being of the Republic.

But I have yet to see someone who is not too tethered to the ideologies of modern politics, too enamored of power,or too beholden to moneyed interests to be that person. The state of politics today almost precludes people with that kind of motivation. If you don't have 500 million dollars in campaign money,if you won't attack and divide, you cannot hope to have your voice heard.Too few people control the electoral process.

The people of this country are looked on as votes, nothing else. We're told what the candidates' focus groups think we want to hear,we shuffle to the polls and the politicians go back to their endless theater of the absurd, not caring for much past the next payoff, the next appointment to a better committee, the next election.

It'll only get worse. Gen Xers and the rest with their sense of entitlement will make Boomers look like the founders.

Every generation will have good ones and bad ones. We've had two less than great ones thus far. I don't see any great ones rearing up at the moment, unfortunately.

The next great President of the United States will be a Gen-X'er.
