I thought i was pregnant this month because i was having symptoms of pregnancy and not none of an upcoming period but i tested 2 days ago and it was negative then started my period that same night.
How soon can I test? Well, first you gotta know how the test works. Briefly: the home pregnancy test (HPT) works by detecting a hormone called human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG.) When an egg is fertilized, it takes about 6 to 12 days to implant in the uterus, and then it begins to secrete hCG. It takes another day or two for enough hCG to build up and make its way into your pee. So, generally speaking, the earliest you can expect a positive HPT is 8 days past ovulation ("DPO") and the latest would be about 16 DPO. It is possible to get a positive test earlier or later, but not as common. In my experience, if you use a sensitive "early" test (anything that detects 25 mIU/mL of hCG or less) you can test around 12-14 DPO and feel reasonably secure with your results (the later you test, the more secure you can feel in its accuracy.)
If you do not chart or monitor your fertility in any way, and you think you may have conceived, you should wait 19 days (or longer) after having sex to test. Why 19?! Sperm can live approximately 5 days in the proper environment; if the sperm managed to live until you popped an egg, the actual conception could have taken place several days after the sex act that got the sperm there. To make sure you're not testing too early, assume the sperm had very long lives (5 days is considered a very long sperm life) and that conception occurred then. Then allow 14 days for the embryo to implant and develop enough hCG to show up on a pregnancy test (96% of pregnant women will test positive by then.)

When you are ttc anything out of the ordinary is a good sign and you know your body better than anyone. An early results test, even with first morning urine, is not 99% accurate until almost a week after a missed period. It's very accurate on the day your period is due but it is not uncommon for a woman to get a false negative on an early results test befor her period is due. Since everyone's different it's hard to say if it was too early for you to test or not. A blood test would probably be able to tell by now. Best of Luck!

I think you test too soon so wait a few days and test again if you dont have a period... and if you still have a negative reading then see a doctor cuz they can do a blood test to see for sure if you are or not! Good luck sweety!!

Yeah the test could have been administered too soon. I would go buy another test.
I ended up having surgery while I was pregnant because the test results hadn't shown up positive when I was in fact pregnant. It's most definately possible!
Good Luck,

It depends on what type of test you took. Urin tests only work like 5 days before your next expected period, but I'm not really sure about blood. It could be possible. Good luck!

Well this is a little tricky, cause i don't want to tell you something to get your hopes up or down. I would say the best thing to do is take another test, but give it a week or so. If you still haven't had your period take a test.

You could be pregnant but you don't know until you take the test. I found this site to be really helpful for women like you who are curious. Remember this isn't a complete test but it does give you an idea of probability.

Give the test a few days, like five, then try again. Or your period may not come because you have it set in your mind that you're pregnant

Sounds like you're pregnant. Give it another week and you to your doctor. The test devices that the Doctors use, tend to guage the level of your HCG more accurately. Good Luck!
