Huh, I don't know. If my girl referred to me as a Celtic Hero I'd probably get all warm and fuzzy. I think, because of all the crap from the KKK and other American terrorist groups a lot of phrases that should be innocent are now tainted. E.G.: I am proud of my parents and learning about my family tree, and learnng about my heritage and culture, so shouldn't I say I have White Pride? Yet if I use that phrase and I can't help thinking I am one big jerk. We just can't simply say we're happy to be who we are without someone sounding the PC alarm. Best of luck to you; hope it helps. : )

PS: If he's German, how about Visigoth Warrior?

YOU might've meant it as complimentary, but the Aryans were a white supremacist race that were around during the Nazi period (1939-1945). Many, many people consider WWII to be an incredibly traumatic time and would therefore be disturbed by the idea of Aryans being seen as good (In case you didn't know, the Nazis treated anybody who didn't come under the criteria for a 'good person' was treated very badly, and many were actually killed in concentration camps)

So, don't say it again... OK?

The word Aryan brings up connotations of Nazism and White Power Skinhead activities.

Yes, he could conceive of it as insulting. Since Hitler is associated with the Aryan nation and various white supremacist groups as well.

Next time, tell him he looks like a Greek God. My boyfriend loved it when I called him that after some particularly good sex one night.

I'm a black man and I find it offensive, so I know he found it VERY offensive!. I can't say for sure, but I think most white Americans do not want to be associated with Aryans.

Aryan to a lot of whites means the Aryan Nation. They are a group of white supremists. I can see why he would be upset.

The Aryans are a gang of extremely racial white sepremists- they hate everyone who is not white and will kill them.
Also, if he's your Aryan god, he might want to know who your African god is.
Nextime, I would just call him my sunshine.
