axcess anything on my computer by going through task manager..i was told to uninstall windows internet explorer 7 and i did and it worked but upon rebooting they have all gone again and things are back to slow again when they came back first time computer was running great..now what can i do

download a free version of adaware se. run entire system scan, and get rid of all corrupted or bad files. it is free for private use and it's a good idea to scan @ least once a week, hopefully this will bring back icons and help the speed of your computer! just type in adaware se and download it! good luck

You need to clean up your start up file. start-run-type msconfig-click the start up tab. uncheck everything except your anti-virus and firewall. This will help keep the computer from running too slow.
you will need to make the icons again for the programs you want and when you get your toolbar back right click on it and click the lock the toolbar.

2. Go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\
SOFTWARE\
Microsoft\
Windows NT\
CurrentVersion\
Winlogon
3. Search the name "Shell".
4. Change or Add the data with "Explorer.exe"

right click on the desktop, choose the arrange icons by option, click show desktop icons, may take a minute for icons to repopulate
