If I buy one at Best Buy, will I still keep my plan with Verizon? Or do I have to get a new plan and all that?
Can you just tell me the process of buying a new phone at a store instead of your carrier's store? (e.g. buying a new phone at best buy instead of through verizon).
The reason I want to buy from Best Buy is because the phone I want is cheaper than at Verizon. At Best Buy it's 29.99 and at Verizon it's 49.99

you will have to sign a new contract or extend your current contract which bites either way
my suggestion is to find a pick up and go model by verizon with similar features and then switch sim cards. the carriers dont want this secret to get out but this is your best bet, its cheaper and doesnt extend your contract. you may even be able to find the phone on ebay but be careful that you dont buy form someone selling a contract.

Best Buy's price might be for new customers (or customers starting a new line of service) only.
If not, buy the phone. Pay attention to any contracts they give you. In fact, if they ask for your wireless number, that's a tip off that they'll be extending your contract.
Then, call Verizon and tell them you have a new phone you want to activate. Double check to see if this means that your contract will be extended or not.
