Why are some women constantly on their cell phones? There are some women out there who constantly have a cell phone clamped to their ears - why are they always on the phone like that? Are they addicted to cell phones? Who are they talking to? And how come it's mostly women you see constantly on their cell phones?

well unfortunately....our culture says that these phones make you "cool"....to be honest with you i think woman with cell phones glued to the ear ...look extremely cheap...but thats just me....
i understand that we all have emergencies but..usually it's loud women who want the whole bus or street to hear their ignorant and completely idle and empty talk.....i guess it makes them feel....good about themselves or accentuates their neediness....
if it's any consolation...i don't own a cell phone...lol

Because most women tend to talk longer on regular phones in the first place.

I tend to text, rather than call. Just get the info through, and then meet the person. Of course, if you don't have a landline, you do it on your cell phone.

But more and more men AND women use cell phones all the time, even at restaurant or just about anywhere. But you're right: women tend to stay longer on phones in general.

Absolutely, and I believe it's a socially dangerous thing. It's not just women. To me there's nothing more pathetic than watching a young couple on a date, sitting at a table in a restaurant, both talking on their cells and ignoring the other. People are becoming way too disassociated, and less in the real moment. It's seems like a superficial problem, but I think it's part of a growing societal illness.

Eventually, and this is going to happen sooner than most would like to think, there will be chips, smaller, more efficient than the blue-tooth, and people will be hotwired to one another. If we keep going in this direction, people will rapidly become very ant-like, all behaving identically, all connected together but not in a very creative way.

Most people I've watched on their cell phones are obviously very insecure. I think this fear of what is really going on around you got worse after 9/11. People think that if there were an emergency, their cell phones would save them.

The sad truth is if there's a real emergency, the cell phones won't even work, and then people will feel terribly helpless and isolated.

Well, first of all, I have seen just as many men with cell phones as women. Now, we can never know who these "addicts" are talking to, but it could be any of the following: their boss while on assignment, a loved one, a friends, or a wrong call. They could be addicted to the phone, but they might just be a social person by nature.

Are some women addicted to their cell phones?

Only the live ones.

I don't think women have anything over men in this area. I use mine when I need to, but it seems like everywhere I go, people are just yakking endlessly and pointlessly.

Does seem to me that blacks - male and female - talk on them more than whites. And that's not a racist comment. Just an observation.

Also, has anybody else noticed, that in these days of having to be at the bottom of a cave to be incommicado, it's harder than EVER to actually get somebody on the phone? If I hear "your call is being transfered to an automatic messaging service" one more goddam time, I think I'm going to pull out my garden hose and whip the concrete fawn with it.

I HATE my cellphone! It's annoying and just another extra thing to carry. I do however like being able to call people wherever I am for whatever emergency.

In answer to your question, it's the phone. Some women just really like phones. Yeah, it's an addiction. We're chatterboxes sometimes.

Why are some GUYS "always" on their phones?
