Everyone's going to say Taylor, I can just see it now, but while he WAS VERY good and a revolutionary defender, LDT is VERY good and this may be disagreeable, but I think LT's setting an OLB mark that no-one has crossed is not as huge as MANY RBs setting huge marks(points, TDs, yards, you name it), and LT surpassing (or will eventually surpass) them is a HUGE thing and even supporters of him don't realize his historical importance and impact.

Ladanian Tomlinson is the best LT. He's not on drugs and is not an embarrassment to his team. Taylor was a great linebacker and was as dominant at his position as he could be, but Tomlinson is overall more of what a team needs in terms of ability and leadership.
What I think is also an important question is: Does a team need a great running back to win, or has the passing game become more important? The Colts cut Edgerrin James loose and won the Super Bowl the next year using a two man rotation with a good strong back (Rhodes - 641 yards) and a promising rookie (Addai - 1,081 yards).

I dont really think you can compare the two due to the fact that they play on different sides of the ball. It is kinda like comparing apples to organes. The real question to ask is if they played aginst each other in thier prime who would have have the better game, and to that question i would have to say that Tomlinson would get the better of Taylor. The reason why is i dont think theire is a running back that has the strenght and speed combined and the visions that Tomlinson has. He can smell the end zone from a mile away and can find it with his eyes closed, May it be to me being young and never having the chanc 2 watch Taylor play football i still think that Tomlinson would have the better game

Well, you are trying to compare two players at positions that could not really be further apart. That said Lawrence Taylor, through his 13 year career, was clearly the best at his position. Ladanian still has a way to go and as of yet you cannot guarantee his greatness but at the then of Ladanian's career, I will most likely be putting him ahead of Taylor. Also, on a personal level, Tomlinson is a much better person than Taylor because of Taylor's drug abuse, although he has recovered pretty well since.

Tomlinson is a nice guy? Score gouging to run up your points for a record? The work of a gentlemen. Who cares if you're up by three touchdowns with three minutes left in the game? Leave your MVP runningback in there and run a few sweeps and screen plays instead of giving the fullback a few chugs and kicking a field goal.
Did you forget what he did after the loss to the Patriots? Yelling, pointing, and eventually trying to attack a Patriots player during their celebration, to the point where he had to be restrained by a teammate and Reche Caldwell? Very classy.
After putting up with the announcers talking about how Tomlinson is such a sweetheart all season long, it was great to see him show what he really is on the field in front of America.
Then again LT was a coke fiend. Tomlinson is great, but not great enough to take away the nickname.

LaDanian Tomlinson is a great runningback, one of the best ever, but Lawrence Taylor has to get the nickname because he forced coaches to change their offenses bases on whether he played or not. Before LT, runningbacks would block linebackers. When LT played, coaches would have to stick tackles on him and he still got through.

eBetter at what? You can't compare players who not only play different positions, but different sides of the ball. Taylor has the rights to the name. Tomlinson is only borrowing it. Nowadays everyone has some stupid shortened name. Saying the full name must tire some people out I guess. Fill in the blank -Rod has gotten a little old and so has hearing people calling Tomlinson by someone else's nickname.

Ladanian is definitely an unbelievable player and might retire as one of the greatest RBs of all-time, but Lawerence Taylor revolutionized defense, not just the LB position. I know former guys like Dick Butkas were outstanding, but Taylor raised the bar. He was doing things that LBs never did, he played out of his mind (but that might have been the drugs). He was the one guy on the field that everyone knew where he was and offensives still couldn't stop him. He was a flat out beast.

Wow! What a rather lame question! (no offense) You are comparing apples and oranges if you ask me. Why would you compare a defensive player with an offensive player? Lawrence Taylor was amazing, dominating, inspiring, and good leader. LaDanian Tomlinson is the same. One was that way on offense, one was that way on defense. One was way back when, and one is modern. Im big fans of both, but I dont really think they are all that comparable. NEXT COMPARISON: 1971 Cuda vs. pocket knives.....which is better?

First of all there is only one LT as far as I'm concerned (The Original). I Can't say that LaDanian is a first of his kind, He is very good and move up to great. But LT was revolutionary he put the fear of god in to offenses and really changed the LB position.
