For those who say that affirmative action is unfair to white people, how could they get their own affirmative action going, discuss it in the media, without being called a racist or a bigot, or getting personally attacked?

People get discriminated against all the time for all sorts of reasons. Sometimes, it's appropriate such as when an employer discriminates against someone who clearly can't perform a job based on their education and experience. That's appropriate discrimination.
For most puposes, except casting particular roles and idiosyncratic choices of aesthetics, there are very few cases in which discriminating against anyone for the color of their skin is appropriate. But it happens. We know it happens. And we know it happens to white guys as well as black guys. It just doesn't happen systematically against white guys because of the historical nature of American society.
There are very few cases in which minorities are women are taking the rights away from white men except for very narrow definitions of rights. There's an old saying that rights are just privileges extended unless they're enjoyed by everybody. The whining you hear from white males is pretty much just the lamenting that these privileges are being broken down into broader rights held by everyone.

Ask the students of Michigan State that scored higher on the entrance exams and were denied entrance because of their race. Equality under the law did not apply did it. The liberals that were in control of the Senate at the time held up the nominee's to the Supreme Court at the request of a former staffer of Ted Kennedy's, who is now an A.C.L.U lawyer, because she was afraid that equality under the law would come into play and the Courts decision would go in favor of the students that were discriminated against. Why is it O.K. for the minorities to claim discrimination, I'm not saying that it does not exist, but not O.K. for Whites when they are discriminated against. I look at many successful minorities that worked and pulled themselves up by the boots straps and God help them if they are Conservatives. They are maligned and degraded as Uncle Toms because that have different values and a different work ethic. I do not always agree with Dr. Bill Cosby, but his recent statements were profound and applied to all of us. No matter what race. Your racial slur of "crackers" already shows your mind set. It appears you do not question to learn but to aggravate

White people are not discriminated against in this country. White privilege is still in effect, though those in power try to skew the perception of all the poor and middle class whites that they are under some kind of attack by women and "minorities" (I hate that term, in a global context white people are actually the minority). This is just part of the divide and conquer method, make everyone suspicious of each other and they won't realize what the people in power are actually doing.

No question that the people with the most power in the country are the rich old white men, god save us all.

Affirmative Action does two things; it pushes people into positions making their race the deciding factor in awarding a job and it perpetuates racism by making predominantly white men the victims of something they would never have perpetrated.

If the ultimate goal is to create a race blind society affording anyone an advantage based on race or making their race a disadvantage has no place in society.

From a "Stupid White Guy":

I think it happens, but is rare. The times I have heard of it the most have been in jobs that get their pay from Government funds, but at the lower levels. I know a police officer, that grad in the top 20 of his class from the acadamy, but didn't get a job until all the women and minorities in his class had already got one. My Wife's brother had a cake job for the city for 2 years painting fire hydrants, but when he tried to get it for a third year they gave to job to a black male. That year doing that job there were 2 black guys, 4 women of various backgrounds, an asian, and a mexican. The city was making their quota for minorities at the bottem level of the totem instead of spread throughout. It was discrimination against minorities for keeping them in the lower levels, but against him too because he didn't get his summer job back due to affirmative action.

I personally find it pathetic when I see whites, on YA for instance, calling for a White History Month, or complaining they are being discriminated against. Here's the way I see it. There is a contingent of people, a lot of them white males, who look around them and see minorities and women coming up in the ranks in politics, public life, in private life, and in business. Rather than being glad to see this, it threatens the false sense of entitlement they were fed by their parents and by this society - so they start crying discrimination. Most white people do not react this way. Most are glad to see the advances made by those of color, and women. We just don't see a lot of them on this site, because it tends to attract extremists. We see a lot of it online because the Internet has provided a safe haven for racists and people weak in character to spew their venom and fear. Please don't make the same mistake they make and put all white people in a box labeled ignorance. There are many of us, millions, who welcome everyone's success, not just those of the white race.

lol moon crickets? wth is that? anyways yes white men are discriminated against like how they may not get a job b/c the company has to hire a minority to be politically correct, and women are discriminated against like how men still make more than they do at the same exact job and postion, and minorities are also discrimated like how some people base a judgement on a whole race from meeting a few ppl of that race, like me personally i dont like black guys i think they are disrespectful and hateful towards women and i have yet to meet one who hasnt cheated on their wife or girlfriend its like they base their lifestyle on how rappers are in videos, they play women like fools in my opinion. so you could say black and white and other races of guys discrimate against women and see them as less of a person and doest deserve respect sadly most of them were raised that way

You're a good example of discrimination against "white people". FYI- we're not "white people"- that's a color not a nationality. we're americans, canadians, french, swedish, etc.. whatever ethnic background.

as for being minorities.. i went to a school (same applies to the school district) where there was 94% hispanic 1% african american 4% asian and 1% white... and that's in los angeles, ca.. so who's the real minority??

while I don't think I'm being discriminated against, I do think some policies are unfair to white people and any person that speaks English. some people are trying to be so politically correct that they are hurting everyone. everyone should be treated the same according to merit.
