this was asked by some other person yet i was too late,wasn't able to answer the question..anyway,i don't think we are because of the bloody americans.. as usual,some other people clean the mess & the americans take credit for it.. now they've managed to make the entire country believe that we owe our independence to them which is a load of total bullocks.. all they're really after is the benefits the philippines give to them by being they're puppets in asia..if one is to study philippines history one will realize that the philippines never was free & never will be so long as we depend on the americans..

Learn this, "Freedom is not given, it is taken".
When the US freed the Philippians from both Spain and Japan, we did it because it was in our best interest. We also did not impose our direct rule on the Philippians and allowed independence because it also was in our best interest. Independence and freedom are similar but not the same. The US gave Independence, but If the people want freedom, they must impose it on their government.
