Loads of Sky channels to choose from, but it's like choosing between faeces or vomit.
12 different types of tomato on sale in the supermarket.
What is the point?

Just read through the answers received so far, some good ones there, thanks.
Seems like I'm in the minority!
One of my friends recently emigrated to a small town in New Zealand, and said the lack of choice there, in shops etc. was quite refreshing.
I find the time spent choosing such a waste of time.
Maybe I'm afraid of making the wrong choice.
Over to you!

I think it's good to have choices. If we don't have choices, then we aren't capable of making good decisions in life. We have to have something by which to compare certain standards.
Now one thing I can agree with you on is the fact that there can be way too many choices out there. But when you encounter that, then I think, for the most part, that you should stick with the basics. Not all choices are good choices!!

See what you mean, Ian,
Should I reply to your missive, put 3C radio on, check if there is a decent film on channels 1 to 99, play the guitar or keyboard, go around the Co-Op for that bottle of wine, or just pass wind ?
Oh, is it to be Smoked Cod, Spag Bol, steak & chips, a chinoise fried seaweed, or stuffed mushroom with parma ham tonight?
Also, Do I trade in the Transam for that Morgan around the corner ?
Should the hallway be mustard'ish or greenish ?
Should I continue to wear a red bow tie, or a straight looking blue one ?
Mr. indecision !

Too much choice causes me problems - when I pull into a half empty car park I can never decide where to park!

i know where you're coming from.
i think that of cheese. sometimes i find myself panicked into oblivion for about 5 or ten minutes, just trying to choose some cheddar. i don't care about cheddar at all. i want to eat a cheese toastie and somehow its made into this huge ordeal. mature, extra mature, organic, local, foreign, mild, extra mild, red, white, crumbly, not crumbly, extroverted, introverted...
i seldom buy cheese these days for obvious reasons.

say you didnt have choice though...then it would be boring to watch one channel on vomit or tomatoes rather than a range.

If you experienced not being able to choose, i think you might change your mind!

You haven't had enough experience of no choice.

It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.
That's the point.
