I was told that the closer you live in the metro area, the less you have to worry about scorpions due to buldings and traffic. They apparently like the outdoors and land with mulch, trees, grass and such. Is this the case?

I was also told that they do climb but I would think they would like the ground best. Would you agree that if you lived on a 2nd floor apartment, your chances are less likely to see any?

I just moved to Phoenix 5 mo. ago and have'nt seen one since I've been here. I was little worried about when I moved here. But I have'nt seen a bug or spider or any thing like that so far.

For the most part, right.
I lived in an apartment that was in the northern part of the city- 19th avenue and Thunderbird area-that got scorpions constantly. It was across the street from a mountain which was the main factor. I have since moved to a newly developed area with a lot of desert landscaping and have not had any issues. It really just depends on where you live.

If you live here you will see scorpions. It is only a matter of time. Some of them prefer to live in trees, too. Go to some place where you can see them behind a pane of glass and get used to the idea. The less scared you are, the easier it will be to take care of when it happens.

Most aren't that big. Like two inches. Young are even smaller.

If you want see scorpions get a portable black light and walk around the area you intend to live in at night, Under UV light scorpions positively glow in the dark. You will be amazed how many of the little critters are out there and being close to the metro area is not a factor.

Yes you will find the closer in town you are the less chance you will run into them. They do like lawns and love to live in Palm trees , also if there is a lot of construction around you may see a few but your pretty safe in the city.

In Arizona scorpians are everywhere, there just might be fewer in the city, but they're there too. If you see one, just leave it alone. And shake out anything with a hole in it (like shoes) before you use it because they like to hide in dark places.
