No. Universities shouldn't take gender into account, the sports teams available for a student should be based on popularity, or how many students are interested in a particular sport. For example, dropping a male volleyball team because 3 girls are interested in starting a female volleyball team is a waste. If there are more men interested in sports then FINE, it doesn't mean women are being discriminated against.

Sure. Sports are superfluous to the intended goals of colleges.
Eons ago, college sports held a value. they provided an activity and a diversion from the rigors of the academic pursuit.
Now, at most major universities, it's all about how much money a certain sport can bring into the university.
Major college sports entities are quickly becoming the minor leagues for professional sports. It shouldn't be that way.
I say outlaw all revenue producing sports and go back to the participation sports concept.
