Why are we forced to watch Survivor and Amazing Race in SD?

With all of the advances in HD and amazing programming from stations like Discovery HD it is ridiculous that we are unable to watch some of the biggest shows on TV in standard definition. I know they could film in HD they just refuse.

With all the money they spend on travel for the contestants and crew for those shows, I would imagine there is little to no money allocated in the production budget to film the show in HD.
