mine is a desktop computer, but i don't want a few irritating things like modem connections, short telephone wires, computer place depending on telephone socket, etc etc...
i want to know if i can use wireless.

Dsl uses phone lines, and is just as fast as cable.....Cable broadband uses no phone lines, just a cable, the same cable that hooks into the back of your tv, with a splitter connects to your pc.

A wireless card will allow you to connect to your router, or a neighbors if they are close enough......

Link it wirelessly to a wireless router/ADSL modem.

get a modem/router combo that is wireless capable.suggestions:2wire 2701hg or netopia cayman.
