Yes, you are. Schools are getting pretty sharp at blocking proxies as well as websites like MySpace that they don't want students visiting using the school's equipment.

Even if you get lucky and find a proxy that works, the school will block it as soon as they notice someone using it, so don't count on it working for long. You're also taking a chance on getting banned from the school's computers, or worse, if you get around their Internet usage policy by using a proxy site. Save yourself the trouble and don't go there!

Whatever website you're trying to get to, you're probably better off just waiting until you're home. (If your parents have a site blocked at home, ask them about unblocking it.) If you've got some time to kill at school because your work is all done, just stick to sites the school hasn't blocked. Sorry, but since it's the school's computers, it's also their rules, so you're just going to have to deal with it.

School IT administrators are blocking proxy sites as fast students find them. Trying to get past school Internet filtering systems with web proxies to gain access to unauthorized web sites is a violation of the computer usage policy at your school. You can get suspended from school and/or banned from using school computers. Use school or work computers for school work and personal e-mail IM'ing and myspace will be waiting for you when you get home.

one strategy I have "heard" is...

flooding the school's proxy server - in other words...you should get A LOT of people to 'go to the site' at the same time...theoretically [depending on how fast the filter is]...it should allow a few to get through because it can't handle the traffic all at once...once it's flooded it may let everyone on the site then, but that's not always guaranteed.

...[you didn't hear this from me - lol...it worked at my high school last year - hehe]
