The Y intercept is when X = 0.

The reason it's at X=0 is becuase when the Y axis is a virticle line at X = 0.

Y = 2*5*0 -1 = -1

So your answer is:

If you wrote y= 2*(5)^x -1 putting x=0 gives you y =2-1=1 (a)
