Can't discuss things rationally. We have to run every debate through the filter of: (R) or (D)? Typical debates begin, and end, with name-calling. If Bush says eating babies is healthy and patriotic, and Hannity and Limbaugh second it, then it's on --"Real Americans Eat Babies!". The same goes for the DNC and their official mouthpieces. It's ridiculous.
We don't seek to better America, we seek to promote our "party". The "party" prospers while the nation goes straight down the tubes.

If you can produce a hypothetical question without any personal opinion one way or the other, you might get some good rhetoric going. There will always be those who have to throw in some name-calling once in a while. But, some is better than none.

doubtful.
since hypothetical questions are just that, it's pretty hard to impose a specific logic to them.
i've also been fascinated by the number of these questions that i see out there - they are generally designed to stifle any real discussion and steer a conclusion to a predetermined solution.
if you want things to be taken in a specific context, forget the hypothetical questions altogether and just start an honest discussion.

Because most of the hypothetical questions asked on here are really way, way out there. Hypothetical questions get better responses if they're based on reality and probability.

I highly doubt it Y!A can only truly be as intelligent as the dumbest poster. You are always going to have people out there cheapening a question or attempting to discredit another with the same contrived rhetoric, insult or my personal favorite, grammar/Spelling correction.

You'd first have to explain to them the meaning of the words 'hypothetical' and 'context'

Wow! That would be amazing. Unfortunately, too many people don't have the proper filters in place and blow things way out of proportion.

Probably, but good like finding people to do that. Also, make sure that you don't express any political view points otherwise your whole questions will not even be looked at.
