You use the formula:

A = pi*r^2 where A is the area of the circle, pi is a constant and r is the radius of the circle.

So you get: A = pi x 12 x 12

Using a calculator with a pi button you get A = 452.38 mm^2 which is 452 mm^2 to the nearest mm^2. Don't forget to give the units in your answer.

A= pi * r^2

A = 3.14159 * (12)^2
A = 3.14159 *144 = 452.4mm^2 = 452
