A farmer offered $100 to a female but she had to BUY EXACTLY 100 farm animals. She was to buy at least one cow, one sheep and one horse.

Sheep cost $0.50 each, horses cost $10.00 each and cows cost $1.00 each.

Can you help the farmer solve her dilemma? Find a way for Farmer Mead to spend the entire $100.

Be sure to explain how you solved the problem and how you know your solution is correct.

0.5 x + 10 y + z = 100
x + y + z = 100
x > 0
y > 0
z > 0
These are the things you know. So you have 3 variables, but only 2 real equations. You can solve one of the equations, for x, getting x = 100 - y - z, and substitute it into the other equation:
0.5 (100 - y - z) + 10 y + z = 100. So factoring this out, you get
50 = 9.5 y * 0.5 z or 19 y + z = 100. So you can now just try some values. If you make y = 5, then z = 5 and x = 90. Then you have spent $45 on sheep, $50 on horses, and $5 on cows. That is $100 and you have 100 animals. There may be other solutions too, I'm not sure.

to locate the conventional with particular values, upload them mutually and then divide by skill of the type of values. right here we've the fee 40 two mph and an unknown fee that we could desire to user-friendly at fifty six mph. So we set up an equation. 40 two + x = fifty six ---------- 2 40 two + x = 112 x = 70 so which you may could desire to user-friendly 70 mph the different a million/2 to attain domicile with an accepted user-friendly velocity of fifty six mph.
