Isn't this the price paid by governments which consistently lie to citizens?

It seems that someone might have asked what happened when I was 9 years old, but I suppose that's just one of those great stories you missed.

I'd say you're pretty smart to question authority....

I'd say this is not unusual, especially if you're in college. Most of the professors I met in college tried to convince me that the government couldn't be trusted and that I really had felt lied to and victimized since birth. They tried telling me I just hadn't realized it yet. When you grow up and leave school, you'll learn to think for yourself, hopefully. Then you'll be able to understand how the world works and you'll drop the whole government conspiracy nonsense.

Stop buying into liberal propoganda that tries to tell you the government is out to get you. The government is just trying to keep existing so that life goes on in our country.

Ah! you were a wise 9 year old.

anything a public official says has to be taken with a pinch of salt as they are not there for purely altruistic reason and have other commitments i.e to the lobbyists that fund them.
so yeah it is the price the pay for consistently (lying is such as strong word...not strong enough...) fudging the truth.
