is america ready to protest government corruption and candidates that are bought and paid for? wouldn't that be the revolt to end all revolts? wouldn't that tell them that we are tired of voting for the lesser of the two evils? could we actually take our country back?

No then Bush would find a way to weasel into a 3rd term by default.

Edit: Sean (my middle name btw), you're right but -- why can't you treat a hypothetical question in context?

Do you really think that politicians would not vote for themselves? Come on. Then only politicians and their families would decide who the electoral college threw their voted to.

You're not under the impression that the popular vote elects anyone are you?

Let's say no one, not even the politicians, voted, well then the house and senate would decide. So no, you could not take the country back by not voting. Politicians would actually love for this to happen.

This whole lesser of two evils principle is exactly what is wrong. There are more than two parties people. If you really want change then vote for someone who agrees with you and not for someone who is likely to win or the lesser of two evils. Vote third party. Vote right and wrong and not right or left.

Not voting perpetuates the problems in America.

Some protest. You'll end up with Congress or the Supreme Court choosing a President from the candidates, and then you definitely won't "get your country back" -- whatever the blazes that's supposed to mean. Of course, if the Judiciary and Legislature don't choose a President, you'll "lose" the country even more because the executive branch will be out of power, leaving it all in the hands of Congress and the Courts. Before you go organizing any huge protest, please try to consider ALL of the potential consequences and decide from there whether or not it's worth it. Hopefully you'll come to the conclusion that it most definitely is not.

This would NEVER happen, And your a bit off your rocker. But at any rate hypothetically if it did the next president would be choosen the exact same way it is today. By the electoral college. This is a mandatory and in that case each state would get to cast it's vote for whomever it wanted to rather that who the people voted for.

people vote casting do not have something to do with the election of a President. in case you study the shape, you'll hit upon the states %. electors. The electors bypass to the electoral college in January, and they %. the President. So we do not must have an election in any note of. The state governments can make the alternative - which they could on your quite not likely challenge.

Well, I suppose then that Congress would elect a President (IAW the US Constitution).

But those pesky dead voters in Chicago, Detroit, New York, and Miami would vote a Dem into office.

So... we wouldn't get our country back. If you DO want your country back... vote for someone who DOESN'T want to be President...and do the SAME for the CONGRESS !!

The Republican candidate would win, because I'd cheat and cast a vote. Sorry to spoil your idea.

a couple things--there is always one wise guy, ppl will vote, and then there are thos who feel so strongly for one party or another.

Lastly we dont elect the prsident, the electoral college does. Our vote is ment to guide the electoral college, and represent what the people want. It usually goes with the majority, however, that does not have to be true.

If nobody voted, I believe the house of representatives would decide.
However, I don't think this would happen, because the government people would vote.

And the dead people in Chicago......

CONGRATULATIONS "Russ"...you're the winner with the correct answer...

"Silly voters"...you think you elect the president? It is the electoral college that elects the president.

They "usually" vote with how the "proletariat" voted, but in the absense of any votes at all...well, they would go ahead and vote themselves and we'd have us a new president.

Might help the overall picture if more of us would read and study our constitution...

You listen to the news or to college professors too much...if
nobody cast a vote nobody would be elected. Try looking
at the good rather than magnifying the bad...lifes too short.
