We've just installed a whole-house chlorine filter, and I'm trying to figure out whether we've got the right one (i.e. enough capacity). Can someone convert either: how many gallons in a cubic metre, or how many cubic metres is 500 gallons?

1 cubic meter = 264.55 gal. Therefore, 500 gal= 1.89 cubic meter.
