I have a black shirt with light grey strips of fabric about 2" wide sewn in. When I washed it the black has bled into the grey which makes it look blochy. Is there any way I can fix this or is the shirt ruined.

Washing the shirt inside-out with similar colours and at low temperatures or sometimes handwashing if necessary (according to the instructions) will prevent this problem in the future. However, try washing the shirt (on its own as a precaution) again and inside-out this time. A few more washes may help get minimise the effect caused by the dark colour and should not make it worse because the dark colour should become colour-fast after a couple of washes.

Sounds like it's ruined. Sorry!!

But in the future, if you have dark clothing like this, wash it with a handful of salt and always in cold water, which will help set the colour and stop it from bleeding.

try to wash it by itself with no other clothing with it. Also, be sure you wash in cold water. The warm water is probably making it bleed. cold water tends to hold color better.
