You should tell your employer about your transportation difficulties and make every effort to get there, including car pooling, van pooling, bicycle, and walking.

If those things truly are not possible and your employer insists upon moving you, then your choices are to keep your job and not show up or quit your job. If you do not show up, you'll be fired for cause and there will be no need to pay you anything in lieu of notice. The other option is to quit and ask for payment in lieu of notice, saying that you were "constructively dismissed," which is a legal term for the employment situation being untenable so that it should be regarded as the same as dismissal. If your back is to the wall on this, I think the second option is best because at least it gives you a chance.

Bottom line -- if you can't work out transportation or a way to get to the new location, go find another job ASAP.

Look at the option of carpooling as someone else mentioned. Also see if there is someone else in your department who would rather take the bump to a new plant.
Unfortuneately, if you quit then you "quit" and there is little you can do as far as unemployment compensation.

You have no options if you quit. You will be unemployed. However, have you talked to your supervisor or HR dept about your lack of transportation? That may help.

If not, and you have no way of getting there, you need to find another job. It is your responsibility to get to work, no matter where that is. sorry...

Did you explain this to your boss? Maybe they can work with you and keep you where you are at or send you to a plant that is on the bus route.

Don't quit.

Are there any employees who live in your area who could give you a ride? You could give them gas money.

Law & Ethics......

I'd say all of the above and if it is really important, walk.
