My son has been advanced as far as his physical abilities, as well as his motor skills. According to the other posts that I have read there are signs. He scores 8/10 on the scores. For example, when he's done playing with a toy or when he's ready to sleep for the night he will clean up his toys and put them back in his toy box. He also will not wear a diaper that is slightly wet, because he has mastered the art of taking off his clothes. I know that there are a lot of people against potty training, but when you wake up and your son has taken off his dirty diaper and tried to hide it from you, that should definately be worth something. I am concerned that if he is ready and capable to do so and I do not show him that it might slow his development down. He's been waking since he was 8 1/2 months old. I am just curious to people's opinions.

My son is very advanced also. Its nice huh? They grow up too fast :) .... try to potty train him and see what happens. I agree with the previous poster though, don't push it. My son's doctor said that most children start at 2 1/2 anyway, you have time. Don't worry :)

Yes difinently your son is ready to start potty training. My son began using the potty at the age of nine months. I didnt actually break him from diapers untill he was 1 1/2 though. My sister in law took the diaper at the age of 14 months on both of her children, so I know it can be done. If your son is smart enough to know his diaper is wet and dirty then I would definently start teaching him about the potty and how to use it. When he gets to were he dont wet a diaper at night and dont have to go as much as he did before then it is time to break him. The most important thing when you decide to take the diaper(this summer would be a good time) put only underware on him from then on. Never put a diaper back on him, not at night or not when you go somewhere. It may be frustrating at first but if you keep putting diapers on him then it will take longer. My brothers niece was potty broke and they went on a road trip and decided to put a diaper on her for the ride and it took another year to get her completly broke again. Good luck, I know what it is to have a son who developes quicker than others his age. Mine began walking at 7 1/2 months and was talking plain before that. When people talk to him they think he is 5 not 2.

That depends on him really. My friend says when they are old enough to sit up they are old enough to be trained. I would buy a small potty to start his curiosity and invest in a LOT of pullups and such. Relax and have patience,he will if hes actually ready and if not try in a few months. If he would actually go reward and praise him but never scold if he has an accident. Dont try underware just yet though and plan for numerous accidents. Other than that Good Luck

I would normally say that he's too young, but IF you are telling the truth and not exaggerating, I would say that your son does sound like an exception and that it wouldn't hurt to try.

You can try...........don't push him real hard! Make it fun and don't be harsh if he doesn't progress like you want him to. If it doesn't work give up and try in a few months.
