Need help leveling in Dragon Quest 8?

I need to know what level i should try even attack Rhapthorn. Im level 41.

41 is the perfect level to be on to face him. 40 should be the minimum level you attempt him at. I'd recommend having your hero learning gigaslash (100 courage, 100 sword) if you're concerned because it deals over 200 points of damage in a single blow. Also make sure you have the best weapons you can find, get through alchemy or buy. Some people have been able to beat him at level 35 even, be warned though, he's strong.
